The Nightingale: October 2012

I was eating non-stop for the week and after during mid-October as laoniang became officially 27.

Korean BBQ for dinner on 12 Oct with colleagues. Delightfully 'meatilicious'.

The husband was working on my actual birthday, so he brought me out for sushi at Itacho on 13 Oct.

I forgot the name of this... tamagoyaki-something. See, I'll totally suck as a food blogger. ._. But this was delicious. The eggs went so perfectly with whatever's inside.

The husband wanted to buy me a whole cake, but I decided on having tea (at like 9pm lol) instead. We went into Pique Nique, a nifty looking cafe place.

My cake tasted quite dry and crappy. Husband's cake tasted aLOT better. I'm such a bad judge of cakes.

It wasn't a lavish affair, but I was pretty happy with the celebration. :)

On 14 Oct, I had food tasting for my wedding at Intercontinental on 16 Dec... which more or less turned out to be a free birthday dinner with the family.

Needless to say, the food was amazing. They had real crab meat (not the NTUC crabsticks hor!) in their fried rice and HUGE (like REALLYYYYY HUGE) portions for everything. The fish was my favourite... I would eat all ten if I could.

On my actual birthday on 15 Oct, I nua-ed for most of the day and joined the husband plus the 二姐 gang (lol :x) at Poulet, the french chicken place at Bugis+. The queue was LONG but I was late, so... it was our turn when we made it. :P

Tasted pretty good overall! I'll keep this place in mind. :D

Had my second food tasting for my wedding at M hotel during that same week. Food was pretty good too! The garnishing wasn't too desirable but generally the food was great.

Felt shiok to see our names on screen! *suaku*

Overall satisfied! :)

Ariel from Yumetori (check them out! :D), my wedding band, came to recce as well, and we agreed to top-up for the sound system because we felt it was necessary. We're having a four-piece band with vocals, guitarist, keyboards and percussion.

We have exercised the OTP last week, paid the rest of the deposit, and successfully gotten ourselves ~~in debt for the rest of our frickin' lives~~ a bank loan from DBS. The package was not the cheapest in the market, but there'll be a cap no matter how the floating rate fluctuates. I've gotten a lawyer friend to act on my behalf for the purchase as well, and we're off to our first HDB appointment on 23rd November!

I did intensive research for house stuff via Google and Renotalk recently, and I've pretty much decided (without the husband's consultation, no less... haha) on having a Scandinavian-inspired theme for our house.

Basically it is kinda minimalist/modern... a good style for us who are not rich enough to do anything too fancy LOL. Anyway I like the clean lines and 'woody' feel.

Re-looked at IDs and contractors, and revised my shortlist...

1. Darren, Plush Living (because Joey is using this ID and she's quite happy so far!)

I cried a little when Joey departed for New Zealand today... because she's getting wed. :)

Angela organized a most wonderful bachelorette party (which left me quite horrified, since I'm next!) with a yummilicious dinner at Shuffle and a wild time at Butter. :P Though it was kinda awkward at first, the other bridesmaids were pretty fun and I foresee us having a great time kicking Eugene's ass in the near future (during gate crash lah). ;D

Since we won't able to celebrate the bride-to-be's birthday while she's overseas, we bought a birthday cake for the occasion and it was a SURPRISE!

Before the party, Angela and I went to this L'EGERE event by Kevin 老师 on Superstar Virgo and he had a sharing session with the audience. Quite informative, and I bought some of the products at a steal, hurhur.

Hitting town and the road less travelled soon for home's lovelies. Of course, we'll also be hitting the usual furniture haunts at The Furniture Mall (namely the one at Toh Guan), IMM, Park Mall, IFC (plus the rest of Sungei Kadut) and IKEA.

We really need a car to access all the 'ulu-er' places... *sigh* Too poor from wedding and house purchase!!!
